True news storey today.
A grade one student in an eastern Ontario (Canada) city brought a copy of her spelling test home to her mother. The mother, claiming to be a pacifist, was horrified to fine the word "gun" on her child's test and complained to the school board demanding the word "gun" be removed from the grade one spelling test. The school board complied and has removed the word "gun" from the spelling test. Can you believe it?
Shot gun, hand gun, long gun, staple gun, caulking gun, glue gun, grease gun, paint gun, nail gun, gun the motor, there's probably more I can't think of off hand.
One person on a local radio call in show suggested replacing the word "gun" with "dispenser". Bullet dispenser, staple dispenser, caulking dispenser....well you get the idea.
