I'm with Robert (again) on this one. I, too, think they are here to stay.
I'd also like to see something bigger, but I think the 8mm makes great sense. Doesn't have to be compared to the .338 Win Mag or .338-06, and a 200gr/.323-cal premium bullet loaded in that short, fat case should be quite all a hunter needs for just about anything here in North America. You would be able to handload 220gr bullets, if you wish, and smaller bullets in the 170-190gr range should make quite a long-distance dialer out of the cartridge. And recoil should be more than manageable for most shoooters.
Geez, and don't you like the sound of ".323 Winnie," or ".327 SAUMie?" Remington might even give Winchester a run for their .338 Win Mag money if they loaded such a round. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
