Default RE: Davenport,NY?

I hunt around the Stamford/Hobart area in Delaware county which is not too far off from Davenport. According to the DEC there are approximately 2-5 deer per square mile in this region, which is on the low side in comparison to other regions of the state. There haven't been any doe permits issued here for the past two years and this year one needs preference points or be a landowner to have any chance of getting one. To be honest I have failed to bring home a deer only once in the last 15 seasons in this area. You won't have deer running you over in this area, but if you put in your time you should be able to see some. The big problem right now is not having the doe permits during the regular gun season. If you hunt with bow or muzzleloader you can take a doe, but I would NOT consider this a prime area for bowhunting due to the fairly low deer densities.
