RE: I screwed up.
NYBowhunter.... that's another thing I found after I had bought and came home and read the book 2 days later. I would have paid the extra 8 bucks to get the magazine. Theguy didn't tell me about it. New York has some strange little quirky rules. For example my taxes.I went in to file for my Star and VA disability exemption/discounts as soon as I got here. They told me I was too late. Said I had to file with the school taxes before Nov 1 or something like that and county/town discounts by March 1. I got here May 1. Then I get a tax bill. It states a value as of June 2006 used to compute. Well hell, it was a vacant lot I didn't own at that time. I didn't get an occupancy permit until July.I went to see them and they stated it was based on the building plans you submitted in Oct 2006 and the state of construction as of March 1, 2007. So, they won't give me the disability tax cut or the STAR cut this year because I got here too late but they're charging me taxes for the full value of a house under construction. When I got the tax bill it stated I missed the appeal date. This is the first notice I got. Isn't that a hoot.
The guy was nice enough. He took my papers for next years star and VA disability and I'll get the break next year. Again, all I have to do is live another year and I'll get 25% off school taxes and 50% off town and country taxes. I can't really complain as I'm in one of the lowest taxtownships going. I could live where NYbowhunter does and pay a bundle.[&:]
So if I just hang around a while longer I'll get a free license and cheaper taxes. Heck, and like Rickmur says, I can afford it.... I still own two house.$%^%^#@^%#^%$#&[:@][:@][:@]
