Default RE: Turkey hunting with a bow!

WANWTF, that is debatable. The response I got from the enforcement office in Olympia last February was that they are legal. Supposedly, mechanicals are only illegal for big game. I am waiting on a response from them again this season, as I was corrected about this from someone who was told by a warden they were illegal for both big and small game. However, it doesn't specify any restrictions in the turkey pamphlet. We both e-mailed the enforcement office, and are waiting for responses to compare. The response I got from them last year was they weren't illegal for turkeys, and there weren't any restrictions on equipment like for big game such as let-off, minimum arrow weight, etc. If you read the Big Game regs carefully under archery equipment, it states that they are illegal for big game, not for wildlife. And from what I've been told, if it doesn't say it is illegal, then it's legal. I'll keep you posted. I wonder if other states are as bad as WA about inconsistency between regulations interpretation.

Back to the topic, if you get good flight from your current set-up, I wouldn't rush to change it. However, mechanicals will give you a larger margin for error on a kill shot with a wider cutting area. And penetration will be less since the cutting area is more.

Hunt hard, live right, and tell your kids you love 'em!
