I would have to agree with you BigJ kind of takes the sport out of it. But to each his own right?
Yep, in some states it's legal but even if it were legal here in Illinois I wouldn't even consider it. I can't see how setting up 25yds from a feeder and waiting for deer YOU KNOW will be coming to eat from itamounts to fair chase.
Maybe someone can enlighten me....
PerhapsI'm too old fashion or out of touch with how hunting is done these days.

Lets face it, it's an "instant gratification" world we are living in today and I fear that mentality has spilled over into hunting.
I will enlighten you....I live in Illinois as you do...I hunt Public land at Clinton Lake...a patch of woods that is surrounded on 2 sides by fields, 1 is corn and 1 is beans, and they rotate them bi-annual as you know....EVERY year, as soon as they pick that corn, for 2 weeks straight I can set my watch to when the deer come into that picked field to eat....So by your statements, I should not hunt during this time? I understand it's not "baiting" in the sense....but it is baiting in a way. You can't sit here and tell me that you don't hunt the edges of fields living in Illinois.
I don't understand why people are so hung up about "baiting", it's legal in certain states, get over it. I don't see why certain people seem to want to divide the baiting states vs, the non-baiting states. If you don't like it, don't evermove to a "baiting state".
