I'm glad to hear you took precautions against lyme disease. Two friends of mine both contracted lyme disease this summer and they both live in suburban Washington DC!!! Lyme disease is a very real and potent threat to many on the East Coast. What kind of preventative medicine did the Doctor give you in reference to Lyme Disease? I did not think there was one. Was it pills? or a shot? If I knew of one I would definately take it ( although it may just be for short term scenarios like yours). Lyme Diseaseis seriously debilitating in the Short term and can be chronically debilitating depending on several factors.
My wife got Lyme disease this summer. The drug is Doxycycline. She had a fever for a week but the doctor wouldn't give her anything until the blood test came back
. I finally put her on pennicillin after day 3 and the fever broke. The symptoms can come back at any time,it can remain dormant in your body.
You get it from the deer ticks (the tiny pin head ones) not from the Brown dog ticks (much larger and easily seen). Contrary to popular belief the little ones aren't baby ones,with a magnifying glass they look like minature ticks.
