Shot the new Staghorn!
I finally got the staghorn in today! After i took it apart and cleaned the barrel, nipple and lubed the breech plug, i went ahead and loaded up 70 grains of pyrodex p and then a 410 gn great plains bullet. First shot at 20 yards was dead center and 4" high, First shot @ 50 was over shot, second shot i aimed at the bottom of my target and sent the conical right through my first shot! After adjusting my sights down to where i want it, its now 2" high at 50 yards and should be close to dead on @ 100 yards. I am going to buy a slip on limbsaver recoil pad for this one. Rifle is in like new condition. I hate to say it, but this rifles trigger is friggen amazing! Zero creep and zero grit! Its like taking a piece of glass and then putting pressure and then it breaks cleanly. The barrel to my surprise does not have a QLA! The great plains took a little more grunt to start, but slid down smooth and shot great. I replaced the front sight with another one that i had and it improved the sight picture a lot better. So far im tickled to death and love the rifle. I think i got my moneys worth out of it lol.
