I didn't ask, but thanks for the advice! I think I have the slate pretty well figured out. Working on the box this year, and while I am in Korea I wil work on the diaphram! As a novice, I can say that the slate/friction was the easiest to learn and come close with. The box in my humble opinion, requires just a little more practice to get the rhythm and the strike right!
