RE: T7 is less powerful?
Pyrodex P is aFINER powder than regular pyrodex, packs down more, and should be faster than standard pyrodex (which is what huntaway is saying).Most people compare regular pyrodex to 777 when they say it is faster, not the pyrodex P. Maybe someone has chronographed P vs. regular and can let you know.
And as stated, you CANNOT compare "strengths" between powders by how high they hit on the target. At 100 yards, 90 grains of 777 will hitHIGHER than 100 grains of 777out of my Omega.
The ONLY thing I look at when comparing powders is which one gives me the best groups. Doesn't matter where they hit at first. The one giving me the best groups is the one I shoot, then I adjust my sights accordingly.
And I have not been able to get consistent groups with either 777 or pryodex unless I swabbetween shots.Granted, it is probably worse with 777 if you don't swab.
