RE: Howa Vs Remington
Howa rifles are more than just branded Weatherby Vanguards. They've made barreled actions for years. I recently bought a 1500 with the Hoage stock in 30-06. While breaking in the barrel I had a three shot group that was 1 1/4" with two holes touching. Pretty good group with cheap Remington ammo. I'd put it up against a more expensive rifle any day.
To be honest you really cant go wrong with any new rifle these days except the 710. I have to assume you are looking at a less expensive rifle like I was. I went to the gun shop and looked at the Howa, Savage, Stevens, Model 70's, and the Model 700's. The Howa"felt" the best to me, that may not be the case for you.
They may not compare to the more expensive Kimber, Sako, Tika, and Weatherby rifles but that's not what they were made for. You'll always come across brand loyal gun owners and that's fine I guess. Me, I was looking for the most bang for my buck and the Howa was it.
