The only thing i can tell you is get over the calf socks. Im in the army so they issue really good Wools for up here in Alaska that go almost to the knee. I just got a new pair of Lacrosse last week and they have the cinch in the back that if you get it tight enough it should hold the socks up. Plus I know it sounds like a pain but you should buy new wool socks every year especially if they are smart wool because your dryer which everyone at one time or another has used instead of hanging them ruins the fibers.
