RE: Zeiss Conquest vs. Leupold VX-III
Woodseye, I saw you posted that you never cared for the Buriss FFII. What didn't you like about it? I know this scope doesn't compare to a Vari x III or Zeiss. Just curious. I tested it and the Sign. Series out this summer, I actually opted for the signature series, as it compares closely to the Vari x III and the price was to good not to give it whirl(1/2). But the FFII I thought wasn't to bad and IMHO was every bit as good if not better than the VX II, at a lower price (at least where I was dealing). The thing I liked about the Burris was it tracked on scope adjustments very well, 1/4 at 100 was exactly that. The clarity was ok, eye relief ok, looks was good & price ok (lifetime warranty). I thought if money was an object and a guy never really had experience with a upper quality scope, it would probably fit the bill nicely...along the same lines as an Elite. (I tested the 44mm & 50 in both btw) The only reason i would give it a nod over the elite would be due to tracking, my elites are decent but they don't track well. I think for guys who hunt (which is what I do) mostly with their rifle, tracking or adjustments is pretty important to get that bullet where it should be on the paper. A lot of guys can't really tell clarity from one model to the next and think that a Bushnell trophy or banner is clear...you know what i mean. That is fine and given that context I think the FFII might be a ok choice. Since I believe you have more optic expertise than me, i would like your opinion and thoughts. I have a buddy who wants to step up from a lower end scope, i have suggested he look at the 3200, 4200 (Elite) or the Burris FFII...he is tight on cash, so the likes of the ones you where talking is out of his league.
Thanks
