RE: Decoy/ blind placement question
For the most part I agree with the other post
About family groups this time of year
But I set my blinds at 90 degrees to the wind and decoys
I have found if I set up just behind or in the decoy spread
Any movement on our part will be seen can flair the birds
But if we set our blinds 20 -40 yards in front ofthe decoys and 20 yards to the side they are never looking at us
If we let them the geese land 10 - 50 yards in front of the decoys
20 yards in front of us and walk into the decoy spread
The best setup for a right handed shooter is when the wind is 90 degrees to our left
So we are not in their line of sight and all the geese are looking at are decoys
We kill more birds that don't have a clue we are there
Also if the birds will not comitt , we still have a great chance tokill them as they swing away
Where if we were just behind or in the decoy
We wouldn't have a chance
