Here in NM we are familiar with droughts. Acouple ofyears ago Elephant Butte, the largest lake in the state, was down to around 20% capacity. I'm not sure you could have launched a boat if you wanted to. That year I fished several lakes that were anywhere from 20 to 40 feet below normal. They have mostly filled back up over the last 2 years but it still runs a boom/bust when it comes to moisture here in the high desert.
