RE: Aftermarket Rem. Mod. 7 Stocks
IMO nothing is as nice as blued steel and walnut. But, I just bought a 700LTR in 308 with a synthetic stock. This rifle comes factory with a VERY stiff H-S Precision stock. I cannot make the forend even budge towards the barrel even with a two hand grip. I think these stocks are part Kevlar. They have an alluminum bedding block formed into the stock for the action. This gun shot Federal Supremes with 168gr Sierra BTHP Matchking's into 3/8" at a 100yds for 3 shots. I think these stocks cost about 300-400 dollars but they seem to be worth it if you want an accurate stock that seems dang near indestructable. It could probably also be taken off the gun, used as a walking stick and boat or then put back on and hold it's zero. They are unbelievably stout!
