Default RE: anyone geocache?

yeah its basically a treasure hunt developed on the use of a GPS receiver, people hide various containers, usually ammo boxes or tupper ware containers that usually have small items your supposed to exchange and a log book your supposed to sign, and then give a set of coordinates that your supposed to use with your GPS unit to find it
I see its gotten to be pretty popular and quite a big thing actually with a whole set of rules and regulations that are meant to be followedwhich it looks likealot ofpeople takeVERY seriously, which to mereally couldnt be moresilly, but there are hundreds of them hid just in my general area

the geocaching partreallyisntwhat I get into and I have no interest in any I cant pack a .22 or shotgun into, but it iskind of cool to take the family, the dog, or both and head out and see if you can find one, and like I said itsactually kind of a funway to get out and do a little small game hunting and/orscouting while doing somethingthe whole family can enjoy, IMOthe whole idea seemsgeared more towards kids than adults anyway, even though that isnt the way it is...

heres the main site devoted to it, http://www.geocaching.com/seek/gmnearest.aspx?lat=36.06200541312203&lng=-115.11740684509277&zm=14&mt=m it seems its became almosta religion with some people and I dont get nearly that indepth at "playing the game", but you can type in your area code and check out how many are around your area, its actually kind of interesting, most of us have probably walk right by one at some point in time and never knew it was there
