Default RE: Non-Accessable by tractor

where i hunt in my state of new jersey first week of september i bring in a bag of fall rye cover crop.i hand rake it when i can but mostly i just scatter it and turn a big plastic leaf rake over and run it over top of the seed trying to push it into the soil. its like 12$ for a 40lb. bag where i buy it. i also noticed a couple years back that whatever seed that doesnt make it into the soil gets mixed into the forest floor with leaves and and brush and the seed will start to pop on top and the deer will seek it out like corn. its the cheapest and less work option ive tried. clover for me cost triple only worked o.k. because it seemed more fussy about the soil. i gave up on hauling lime and fertilizer to make it work. with me the winter rye its throw and go and its mostly sandy soil i hunt in. i also herd that red rape seed is the ingrediant in many of the fast grow no plow formulas. i might try to get a bag of that this year.
