I lived near Copperas Cove for a number of years, and shot a lot of Central Texas whitetails. The .270 is perfect for such hunting, as is the .25/'06. But, if you get a chance to hunt bigger deer, or elk later on, the .270 is a better choice because you can shoot heavier bullets in it!
