When I first started Bow Hunting I always shoot with my fingers, after talking with several other Bow Hunters I tried a Release and love it much better for the control and better accuracy.I have accidently left my release at home a few times and went on out hunting without it but I felt like I wouldn't be as accurate without the release and hoped I didn't have any deer walk up on me and would have to try shooting with bare fingers.
On a lighter note:
I have dropped my release while climbing high up a tree with my climbing stand or left it on the ground at the base of the tree and wondered how in the world I was going to get it back without scarying the deer off or having to climb back down after being worn out.....so I used my lanyard/rope and my small camo pouch that had velcro on part of it and fished from 20 feet in the air and hooked the other velcro part on the release then pulledit back up to me.
