Crown wear is/can be an issue and I believe you should have some concern about it.

I personally use a separate "range rod" for range shooting and for cleaning. I use two other devices that helps protcet the crown. One is a spin jag, a jag that rotates but also has a teflon washer at the top of the jag that keeps the jag from running into the crown. I also install a crown protector on the rod.

One thing that you have going for you is the QLA on the end of your barrel - it helps protect the crown on the riflings.

Range Rod: I use a Tipton Carbon fiber rod, in fact I have a couple of them - they are very good rods... but still more crown are damaged by dirty rods than the type of rods....
