This will be my second year in the contest, I chipped in 50" last year to the team. I would really like to double that this year. I just found out yesterday that I was drawn for the Shiawassee refuge hunt. I am pretty excited, they draw 80 hunters (on a priority point system) and there are about a 1000 applicants for this slot. There are some really nice bucks in there and I would really like to tag one for the team! There is a doe only hunt the week before my hunt (100) hunters and I will be there from Nov. 1st to the 5th, about perfect for pre-rut. The refuge is about 10,000 acres.

Well enough about that, our season is Oct. 1 to Jan. 1 with a couple of weeks off for gun season (Nov.15th - 30th). I will hunt about 70 days either morning, night or both. I hunt 80 acres private land right behind my house and have seen several P&Y bucks, but never connected. I had a dandy at 13yds, but quartering to so I had to pass. I alsotake a late season (December) hunt to the U.P. Got a trip planned for Houston county MN, but that is next year

I am 35yrs old, been bow hunting since I was 12,married to a very understanding wife and have 3 kids- Hunter 9, Garhet 7, and Hailee 1. I am very lucky to have a wife that lets me hunt whenever I get a chance, takes great care of the kids and lets me spend too much $$ on hunting.
