Default Weight, weight, weight

I have a really nice set of digital scales in my lab at work. I am a QC Tech for a mining company so I use these for testing of material, they are also certified for state use so they have to be dead balls accurate.

Did some weighing this morning of my new setup with my new fletchings I just got. Was a little concerned with the weight of the glue I have on them.

Here is the results of my findings.

1 Vane = 9.25gr (AAE's Elite Plastifletch)

Bolt = 302.47gr (Horton Lightning Strike MX Alum.)

Bolt w/ vanes glued on = 336.42gr

So you figure the 3 vanes combined weight is 27.75gr, when glued on I used 6.2gr (2.066gr each) of Quikset gel glue for them to stick to the bolt. Sounds like alot to me, only a small bit squirted out from the edge of the vanes. So thats telling me just a hair too much is being placed on the vane. Could try some other glue instead of gel type to cut back on that.

Also did find out that my batch of field tips which are suppose to be 100gr are really 97.22gr [&:]Not very good quality control from that factory, at least they were all the same weight. So they are machined the exact same just don't have a correct total weight.

Totalbolt weight with new vanes and field tips = 433.64gr

I do love these new vanes though. Alot stiffer feeling than the others. Hopefully this will cure my vane wave problem. My first time ever doing my own vanes, and they look great. Did them in flourecent yellow and purple so now have a weird L.A. Lakers theme going on who cares as long as they fly good.
