The .270 Wby Mag is every bit as good a long-range gun as the .340 Wby Mag. They will both kill elk to as far as anyone should realistically shoot at one. <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>

The .270 Wby will kick a lot less, and is quite easy to manage for even the most recoil-sensitive shooter. Like Robert said, if you get a .270 Wby Mag, you may never pick up the .340 again. <img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>
