I thenk what I would do is get a 3006 and get some serplus ammo and do a lot of shooting the more you shoot the more your confodinc wil go up most of my hunting is done with a bow as will dut I steel like to shoot guns the 308 is a good one for it to and that 340 is a grat gun good luck
