Default Rantings on ignorance

I hunt alone; meaning I hunt in the deerstand by myself. Though, almost every time I hunt, I bring a family member or buddy and they'll hunt their stand somewhere else. I hunt with a respectable group of people; my cousin being one of them (we're more classified as buddies than cousins). Although, one of my friends no longer invites me anywhere, calls me, has been kind of a jackass to me... not once did he thank me for letting him hunt my property last year... he got mad at me when I told him "no does." He said, "I'ma meat hunter. I don't give a rip what it is I'll shoot it." I pretty much stuck it to him. I said, "You're gonna respect my grandfathers wishes or you're not welcome to come back." And all season long he just kept on repeating himself: I'm a meat hunter, I'm a meat hunter, I'm a meat hunter. He didn't end up filling one of his tags last year, except for a gray fox. He told me a gave him a slack stand, when in reality, I didn't give him any stand. I told him that he could put his stand anyhwere on my property as long as its not within 300 yards of any stand. I told him that I would help him put his stand up, cut shooting lanes, plant a couple of acres of field... whatever. He failed to even attempt to do any work to get a deer, he rotated a couple of 20 year old worthless stands all season. He didnt even put out a bag of corn. This guy is one of the minority hunters who has only been associated with the outdoors a couple of years and will argue with you about anything associated with the outdoors. He "knows everything." He'll get angry when you do something better than him, know something that he doesnt, and when you prove him wrong. The only thing he has killed are squirrels and a fox... nothing wrong with that, unless you lie like he does. He told me he has killed 8 deer including a 13 point, and 6 hogs. All of this is false! Why must someone lie? Is it because he wants to "be better" than everybody else? I have been hunting for about 6 years now, and I just harvested my first 3 deer last season. Before then, when people asked me, "Chris, have you killed a deer?" Chris answers, "Why no Bill, I havent! Even though I have been hunting for five years!" "Don't worry Chris, you'll get many deer in your lifetime."

I love the outdoors... its all I do other than go to school, work, and be a part of the HNI community I know WAY more about the outdoors than about most kids my age, and I know almost as much as some middle aged hunters. But I have an extremely long road in front of me before I am even considered to be classified as a "veteran hunter." This guy right here, though, insists that he knows more than anybody. He talks down upon all hunters other than himself and his buds, (he also talks down upon my grandpa...) and for what reason...... "Chris, I've been fishin since before you was born!" (in a serious voice) "Hey ______, you're only two damn years older than I am. You really think that you knew/cared about what you were doing when you were two?" "Chris, you fool. I'm a better shot, I know more than you, I hunt better than you... etc... The sad truth is, is that ________ has only been hunting for 2 years of his life and insists he knows everything about hunting, fishing, knives, firearms, bows... Ask any of ________'s friends and they'll tell you, "you'd think that hed been hunting for a long time because he has all of the gear... but he doesnt know too much. He's kinda ignorant."

I could go on this rant forever. What got me started was talking about Pet Peeves on one of the "selfish" threads

Conclusively, he will not get an invitation back to my property. I just don't understand why people must be like this... it angers me to no end. And I'm sure there a people like this all over the world... Pick your friends wisely and don't put up with fellas like this

Chris
