RE: Homemade Mineral Mix Recipe
Just regular old stock salt works fine for the mix, it is readily available and cheap.
Di-cal is somewhat harder to find, it is a feed additive also, common in dairy cow applications.
I have been using this mix for a couple of years and I love it. The deer do too. The calcium is good for both antler growth and milk production, the phosphorus is also a key component in bone (antler), and the trace mineral should take care of any oddball mineral deficiencies. It is best to use this stuff in spring/summer when they really need it instead of just hunting season. I actually have mine in a mineral feeder, and at certain times of year they will flat wear it out.
