You are right Bruce. The door does swing both way. That's why as "the guest" a true friend would probably voluntarily decline to shoot the specific animal he knew his buddy was after, although he did not have to. Thus, giving the chance for both firends to be gracious towards one another.
And we can take that a step further and say a true friend would voluntarily pass on a buck
because he was invited to kill does and understands and respects what his friend is trying to accomplish. Maybe the following year, after helping with the does, his friend will invite him to come and kill any deer now that the ratio is better
