A healthy diet really favors the fawns. Even if you area has a bad food supply it is hard to tell with fawns. No matter what theyhave fat on them. But the fawns with the better diets are fat and skeletally larger than the fawns with bad diets. Who are fat but stunted.

So I guess just looking at the fat on fawns is not a good indication of the health of a herd.
