Default RE: Caribou hunt: any information?

Vern,

Most definatly. Dean Torges and Jay Campbell has come up, Jay twice now, I so far from what kind of costs we have been talking have both been under 1500.

I had at one time a list of costs at the going rate and had figured for a few friends 1500-1750 for a caribou hunt up here. We didnt plan in any kind of big or small fly out but its definatly possible. The smaller ones (now that I own my own raft) were under 300 a person. The more expensive trips can run in bush fares alone 2500-4000 bucks depending on where you are starting from..it all is airtime there.

We have 26 recognized different caribou groups up here...obviously everyone knows of the mulchatna..not by no means the biggest group but some of the better racks come from there....but many many others.

With a little bit of digging you can easily come up for 2k comfortably and do a decent hunt. DO NOT do the mulchatna herd from Anchorage/kenai penn. If you are going to try and do it good, save an extra year and do it really good for 1-2k more!

Ok, I wont ramble anymore...if you're interested shoot some emails...we can talk there.
