If you choose to shoot through brush thats up to you. The 30/30 lever action is very short and very quick to get on your target. If you have ever hunted in the brush are thick woods you would understand the need to be able to get on your target quickly!
I agree you need a short light gun to be able to swing it up and around in the thick brush. A long bolt action rifle get s in the way when you are trying to make a quick shot.
