I've got an outhouse and a doghouse from Ameristep, both on clearance for less than $30. I'm by no means and great hunter, only one season. But my 7 year old and I used the outhouse and got a turkey 11 days into our firstseason turkey hunting.

I can't comment on how good top dollar equipment works because I don't have the money to spend on it. But I'm sure some others here are in the same position I am, if I spend more than $100 on a "glorified camo tent" I'd better be prepared to sleep in it.

Total cost of every hunting item I own is less than $4000 and that includes bow, gun, camo, stands, calls and everything. My Honda Rancher cost me $3700 of that. I'd like top dollar equipment, but if I can start my first turkey season and get a bird within 11 days on my own with clearance and used equipmentwith absolutely no experience at all, I think I'll stay on the cheap end of hunting.

I think the most valuable hunting tool anyone here owns is knowledge, and I'm willing to take any of that you guys are willing to give away.
