I tend to think that the .300 Win Mag is a good rifle too. YOu can load it lighter for deer, and you can load it nice and Heavy if you get out west for something a little bigger. With the right load, you can shoot everything from pigs to bears and all that falls in between. The .308 is an excellent choice as well, though some may think it is a little light for out west.
You might look into the TC rifles since youhave the ability to just buy a new barrel when you want a new gun. Just a thought.
