RE: Inline conical shooters?
Here's a fairly inexpensive option for us newbys to muzzy hunting:
Rifle: CVA Buckhorn $99 @Walmart or $120 @ Cabelas
Bullet: Either Copper 295 gr Powerbelt Aerotip, 348 gr Powerbelt lead or 385 gr Hornady Great Plains
Powder: Pyrodex RS/90 grains
Primer: CCI 209's
Result: The powerbelts shoot great in this rifle, sub 3" groups @ 100 yds and you have to hold 8" high @ 200 yds to get a 6" group. My crude ballistic testing shows the Great plains expand to from .50 to .9 or better while the Powerbelts go from .5 to .6 without much mushrooming, but they do not lose any weight. Will be testing the powerbelt lead hollowpoints this week. The sights that come on this rifle are awesome for open sights. Pretty cheap buy in to get a guy started.
