RE: bow for a beginner?
A good site to go to is Archerytalk. You have plenty of time to become decent with a bow for hunting season. Like the above poster mentioned most here prefer one brand over another. I would just look for a midlevel bow, because you don't need a $1,000 bow for bow hunting.
Fred Bear, Reflex, PSE, Bowtech and the list goes on. Once you find something you like, look in the classifieds at archery talk you can normally find a deal w/ everything you need to start shooting. There is nothing wrong with buying used and it can end up getting you a better bow without all the expense.
