My son was thinking of using my Pursuit LT this Fall. He has been thinking of using 777 pellets as opposed to the Pyrodex I last used in the gun. I understand that cleanup with 777 requires water only, but would be interested to hear from those 777 pellet shooters as to what their between shot cleaning regimen is, both at the range and/or in the field.
Thanks in advance for any information.
At the range I use Rusty Duck, which I bought a Wal-Mart in the presoaked patches (round, 2"). Squeez excess solvent out of the patch so it is just a bit wet, not soaking. One patch, work the crud ring good at the bottom, trun the patch over and run it down and up a couple of time, then a clean patch to wipe the excess fluid off the inside of the barrel, turn it over and do the same thing. Use another if you fell there is any fluid in there.
In the field I use 1 patch of TC Bore butter, not a lot, run that down and work the crud ring. I don't use a cleaning patch in the field. Most of the time I don't have to reload the gun, so I don't. Usually it is a dead deer within a few feet of where I saw it. Chap Gleason
