West of the Blue Ridge and on National Forest lands in Amherst, Bedford, and Nelson counties
The bag limit for deer for all hunters, including those persons exempt from purchasing a hunting license(s), shall be one a day, three a license year, one of which must be antlerless. Only one antlered buck may be taken during the special early muzzleloading season per muzzleloader hunter.
Persons exempt from purchasing a hunting license may not harvest more than the license year limit (see above) using a combination of deer tags from their bear, deer, turkey license and deer checked under the landowner license exemption.
Any hunter, including those persons exempt from purchasing a hunting license(s), choosing to take more than the license year limit must use bonus deer permits or special permits (DCAP and DMAP) which are valid only on private land and authorized public lands.
