my dad started raising them to sell, but he didnt want them to be sold as "shooters" being that the older deer are tame enough that you can walk into the pen and pet them like a dog. now we just keep them because theyre basically part of the family and they are free scent machines pretty much. (other than food cost) and yes they do get very roudy during the rut. the only way to feed them all is to get in the pen and during breeding season the only person that can feed them without being attacked is my dad, not sure why but they test him and when he doesnt back down they just somewhat relax and let him do chores. most will be sold eventually but we are keeping one buck and 3 does for breeding purpose and to have a source of the freshest deer pee. he plans on starting a company some day but with Mrs. Doe Pee about a half hour away that ideas on the back burner for now.
