Cabela's To Build Retail Store In Greenwood, Indiana
Construction to begin fall 2007; scheduled to open in early fall of 2008SIDNEY, Neb. - June 4, 2007 - Cabela's Incorporated (NYSE: CAB), the World's Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, announced today it plans to build one of its popular destination retail stores adjacent to Interstate 65 in Greenwood, Ind., if negotiations are successfully concluded.

Construction on the 125,000 square-foot retail store could begin this fall and the store could open for business as early as fall of 2008.

The new Cabela's, sited on 21 acres, would be part of a larger retail and entertainment project planned for approximately 100 acres along Interstate 65 and bordered by County Line Road and Graham Road. Focus Group of Valparaiso, Ind., has plans to develop a hotel and water park on five acres adjacent to the Cabela's store.

"We're very pleased we're close to bringing the Cabela's retail store experience to our loyal Indiana customers," said Dennis Highby, Cabela's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We already have thousands of great customers throughout the entire state and region who enjoy Indiana's abundant outdoor recreational opportunities, and we're excited we could soon be more accessible to them than ever before."

Highby added that a Cabela's would attract business from the region's residents as well as millions of visitors from surrounding states, spurring new economic development and jobs in the region.

To operate the new store, Cabela's would employ more than 200 people from Greenwood and the surrounding area. Cabela's typically attracts as employees passionate outdoorsmen and women, who join the Cabela's family of employees famous for their excellent customer service, outdoor lifestyle and detailed knowledge of outdoor products.

Product offerings will include hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating and wildlife watching gear, as well as outdoor clothing and outdoor-themed gifts and furnishings.

"We're excited to be partnering with Cabela's," said Robert Churchfield, Vice President of Development for Focus Hotels. "Like Cabela's, Splash Universe is all about value for families. We provide a total indoor water park experience for a value price, and we look forward to being a part of such an exciting entertainment and shopping development."

Churchfield added that Splash Universe would include party rooms for kids' events (the park caters to kids from 2-14 years of age), a gift shop, snack bar, full-service restaurant and lounge and an action-packed arcade.

"We have been working for over two years on creating an exceptional development at this location that compliments the retail Mecca Greenwood is known for," said Mayor Charles Henderson of Greenwood. "What makes this even better is the tourism theme provides an added level of shopping venue that gives Greenwood a true niche in the retail selection and will create additional spin-off opportunities for our community and across the state."

Innovatively designed and showcasing thousands of products from Cabela's world-famous catalogs, the stores are known as top shopping and tourism destinations, drawing customers not only from the local area, but also from hundreds of miles away. Many traveling sportsmen and women are also attracted by the familiar Cabela's script logo and the company's world-famous reputation for quality merchandise, value and extraordinary customer service.

"It has been extremely exciting working with the Cabela's organization on their location to our community," said Cheryl Morphew, Executive Director of the Johnson County Development Corporation. "Their family friendly environment will showcase the door to our county and promote Greenwood and Johnson County as a featured tourist destination."

Cabela's currently operates 19 retail locations and, in the remainder of 2007, plans to open seven additional new stores in Gonzales, La.; Hoffman Estates, Ill.; East Hartford, Conn.; Hammond, Ind.; Reno, Nev.; Post Falls, Idaho; and Lacey, Wash.

The Greenwood store will be built in Cabela's trademark style that re-creates the look and feel of the great outdoors inside its impressive stores. Cabela's stores are known as top-notch educational and entertainment attractions, mixing a décor of museum-quality animal displays, aquariums stocked with native fish and a centerpiece indoor mountain displaying trophy animals in realistic re-creations of their natural habitats.

Features of the Greenwood Cabela's store will include:

• A towering mountain replica, the centerpiece of the store's open showroom, with running waterfalls and streams, a trout pond and trophy animals in re-creations of their distinct
habitats. Similar mountains, each called Conservation Mountain, have been built in other Cabela's stores as monuments to wildlife and salutes to the sportsmen and women who support wildlife conservation.
• A freshwater aquarium stocked with fish native to the area.
• Museum-quality representations of many wild-game species.
• World-class Gun Library, providing gun collectors and aficionados the opportunity to browse through a collection of examples of the gun-making art.
• Indoor archery range where archers can test and fine-tune their equipment.
• Bargain Cave, featuring discount prices on returned and discontinued merchandise.
