RE: How To Get Others To Let Small Bucks Go
I don't think trophy hunters go against the "heritage" of hunting at all, in fact I think it's quite the opposite I believe that it is a big part of our huntingheritage. Just as Germ said Teddy Roosevelthimself was a trophy hunter.
My problem is with others trying to push people into being trophy hunters when all they want to do is simply kill deer......any deer. Just like the reason for this post in the first place. Beagle001 was asking how to get theothers he hunts withto think the way he does with respect to hunting styles ie: him wanting to shoot bigger antlered deerwhile the others are happy with whatever walks by.
Unless it's his land all he can do is open it up for debate with his fellow hunters. If they are all happy with the way things are then he is S.O.L. and he should just live with it and continue hunting his way (for trophies) or find another place to hunt.
There are some exceptions but most here would love to kill a big buck including myself. In fact there have beentimes that all I did was trophy hunt and other times I nailed the first deer that struck my fancy. I've killed my share ofP&Y deer and I willcontinue to hunt for them (trophys) just as I will continue to shoot whatever I feel like at the time a shot presents itself. But I will never look down, degrade or try to convince someone who is HAPPY with they way they hunt, to hunt the way I do just to make it easier for me to kill a trophy deer.
