And they need to be cut to about an inch? And how do you serve something like that? I just thought you tied them on?
The way I do it is to fold each strip in half, crossways, and cut it into two equal pieces. Place one half on each side of the string and clamp them to the string with a hemostat or alligator clip. Clip near one end to leave the middle clear. Then get serving thread and center it in the strips and serve them on. Make your serving wraps tight.
Then when you take off the clip and seperate the strands it puffs out into a nice little ball. Repeat on the other end of the string. If you need more silencing than that, you can tie on 3-4 strips on each end instead of just two. Served on like that they will not come off until you take them off. They'll outlast your string. And being shortened that way they won't flap around at all.
I threw them on the bow, went out, took one shot and my jaw dropped! Not only did it make the string quieter than being bare, it's quieter than it was with good leeches on it!
