Taz and Der Jagd Meister,
I'd sure like to know what you are basing your high opinion of Fred Bear on? He regularly took long, 80, 90, even 100+ yard shots on RUNNING game.

He drank while hunting and was known to find his game from planes, land, and set up an ambush.

Now I know I am really stirring the hornests nest here but if you read Fred's book, I think it is called "Fred Bears Field Notes", and his buddy Bob Mungers book, "Trailing a Bear" I think you might change your mind.

He did a lot to promote bowhunting...and line his own pockets. Personally, I would not hunt with him. BEFORE you flame me READ THE BOOKS. If you have not read his own accounts, and the accounts of Bob Munger, you are not completely informed about the actions of Mr Bear. If you read the books, and still think he was the greatest, one of us is really missing something.

Ok, now you can let me have it for hero bashing.
