RE: Whats everyone shooting at ???
for field point practice it is really hard to beat a bag target. they stop arrows quick and pulling the arrows out is the easiest ive found.
for broadhead shooting i shoot a 3" thick piece of hard foam. it stops my arrows...have to unscrew the head to remove the shaft. bought it at Dic'ks sporting goods for like 20 or 30$ last year. it works..after i broadhead tune i typically go back to shooting mostly fieldpoints with broadhead shooting mixed in just to make sure...but once i broadhead tune i know with my setup that it doesnt matter what i shoot, that it will hit where i send it.
for 3Ds ive yet to see anything compare to a Rinehart. removal is easy and they seem to have the best life. all the 3d shoots i been going to have rineharts because of that. more expensive...but noone complains about arrow removal and they last long.
no matter what you get keeping it out of the weather is the trick to getting targets to last. weather kills foam...cover them, throw them in the shed or garage..something
i found some silt fencing and repaired my bag with it. stuff it full of more shopping bags and then wrapped it in the silt fence real tight and stapled it to the hard sides of the target. the silt fence is made of the same material as the bag..it worked very very well. i had giant holes in both sides of the bag from 10000s of shots on it...good as new now!
