the toms river area and the route 70 area is the pine lands area. its got sandy poor ground and smaller deer than the rest of the state. numbers are way down and the coyotes have thinned things out. if you travel a little further north to monmouth county i would hunt the park systems there. also in the pines they are loaded with chigger bugs. if you dont know what they are you are in for a treat!
new jersey has great deer hunting but you need to do a little research. the good news is that the state is small and there are usually people who can take you out or recommend great
areas to hunt.
