I heard in a magazine or maybe a book that deer can grow an inch easily a day, some more. That growing takes place until about 1 1/2 weeks before they shed, so roughly the first and second week of August here. I could be wrong tho as well. Regardless they should get some more bone on there yet. Gonna check a different field tonight, I'll update later.
