RE: Preseason Checklist......
things to check are things like stands, checking up on land permission etc. we all should be shooting well tuned bows...hunting gear can be gathered and put together later.
my plans?? im behind. i bought a groundhog gun ive always wanted instead of doing my bow make over. i need a string and arrows to be ready to go. gibblet should have my stings to me shortly...i will have the arrows by then and have them put on and arrows finished all the same day. should leave me with time to tune, broadhead tune and keep shooting before i leave back to college. if im not broadhead tuned before i go back to college i will be panicing. school starts late august or something...gives me about a month...but i only have 2-3 days a week to come home and shoot...i want to come home and shoot, not fidgit around tuning etc.
i plan to camo all my stands. even my summit viper. plan on using atleast a lock on and ladder this year..if not 2 of each..depends on what i get permission to hunt and where i can leave stands. but i cant stand that nasty grayish greenish color the stands are...they are getting camoed. also want to put the new summit skins on after the paint job, and also some of that sandpaper type gripping material on the summit...it got slick last year and i didnt like that.
purchases?? dead down wind for sure...strings and cables already ordered, CX terminator select hunters, tiger stripped blazers for them, probably fuse string shox anda G5 meta peep and a new teflon cable slide...hopefully smoothes things farther and stops the chatter i noticed when drawing in wet weather. would like a 2nd release and waterproof, breathable pants to go along with the jacket i bought last winter. already got everything else i can think of...weather or not i get the extras depends on what i got left after im done working for the summer. i doubt i will be working during Christmas break, so i gotta keep some cash to make up for that this year...
heading towards college tomarrow with the groundhog gun. my goal is to gain permission to hunt groundhogs on atleast 1-3+ private farms tomarrow...hunt the groundhogs on weekends till school and evenings after im at school, then use my groundhog hunting to get me permission to bowhunt. i need private land to hunt at school. the gamelands and such get pounded. if its not bowhunters, its small game and turkey hunters. and i would like something within a 10 or 15 minute drive...that would be nice..
cant wait...
just thought...checking harnesses and climbing systems etc would be a smart idea...like the tie off ropes, carribeaners etc....i know my tie off rope got kinda fuzzy...im definently checking to see if its fuzz or rips and tears or anything serious...and going to check the harness to make sure it didnt tear or anything somehow...saftey is #1
