So I was watching a hunting show a couple days ago on one of the outdoor channels or maybe it was on MOR, Deer and Deer Hunting. Anyway, this year they've added a segment that takes a real live shot at a deer, impact etc and dissect what happened. So this buck is broadside and the guy puts an arrow midway up the body right up against the shoulder. They dissect it all as the deer runs off chasing a doe. He ends up going something like 300 or 400 yards with minimal blood loss.

Now comes the kicker. They say it was a perfect hit but that they "Must have deflected off the shoulder bone making it miss(get this) the NEAR side lung. When the deer ran off I couldn't believe there wasn't a hole visible or a little blood showing. They played it in slow motion and you had a good view of the area for quite a while. Their explanation again was deflection off the shoulder bone. Double checked it and I replayed it over and over. Bull HOCKEY. There's no way it could exit where it did if it were deflected to miss the near side lung. They hit the sweet spot. Then I saw what I believe to be the source of their problem. It was on the front of their arrow. A mechanical. From the replays it's obvious it didn't open when it went in. Probably didn't open until it got to about the second lung. I firmly believe their problem was right in front of them the whole time but they came up with a conclusion they wanted to. This was a viewer video and conclusion. I see it as totally wrong.
