Default AM Hunting

Before last season I never cared to hunt in the AM. Rather sleep in than get out of the bed two hours before sun light and sit in the stand. Mostly due to never seeing any deer in the mornings.

Last season changed my whole out look on morning hunting. I have a small tract of land that has a creek bottom running through it. This bottom is a few miles long and connects many farms, pine stands, and hard wood bottoms.

It is literally a deer high-way in the mornings. They use it to move from the adjoining farm land back to their beds on my land and an adjoining cut over. It is very low land with thick cane patches so the deer can move through it w/o leaving cover.

I seen and killed more deer last year during the AM than I did during the afternoons, including shooter bucks.

This is my first year bow hunting and it gets even better. The farmer who owns the 1,000ac around my little tract of landplanted corn and soy beans this year. The "high" part of my land connects to the soy beans and the lower creek bottom goes right to the corn field.

This coming season should be one of the best I've ever had.

Last year proved to me that given the right conditions hunting in the AM can be more productive than I ever imagined. This coming season, I want to stay i the stand longer. I am sure that the more mature deer are probably using the same route, but closer to mid-day.
