Default RE: Donations for Corey Creason

Dear, Friends

How are you all doing today? As you might know my name is Corey J. Creason. As of July 11, 2007 (my birthday) I will have been fighting a rare kind of cancer for 2 years. It has been up and down for the past 2 years, but it has not got me down yet, and I am not going to let it! I thought I would give you an update on the bear hunt and my latest trip to M.D. Anderson, Houston TX .

Well about a month ago I had to go back down to M.D. Anderson for some tests and a check up. While I was down there I had some time to kill, so I was looking for something to do. My brother found a place called Hog Wild Adventures, it is about 1 hour north of Houston . So he called the guy “Billy Reeves” to find out more about the hunt. Billy was a super nice guy he ended up giving me a day of hunting for free. I killed 3 hogs and a 4 horned ram.

Then a few days after we got home, my family said “we were going to go out for dinner”. Ok, no big deal! Well when I walked into the dinner, I was surprised to see several of my friends sitting with my family, I was like what is going on? Well nobody would tell me anything. Then after we all got done eating Alex Grable said well Corey, your brother is going on this bear hunt and we want you to go with him, as he handed me the info on the hunt and the money. I couldn’t say anything, not a word. When I got my thoughts together I told everyone at dinner thanks.

Time could not go fast enough; I was ready for the hunt! I must have had my stuff packed 2 weeks before. When the day came all 5 of us loaded up the truck and a trailer at 8pm. On Friday night and hit the road to North Country Outdoor Services in La Tuque, Quebec (about 6 hours north of Montreal ) we made a few stops for fuel and food. Then we saw a sign for Niagara Falls , so we stopped there for about 2 hours. The night we arrived at the camp it was about 11pm. And there was nobody around, so we had to sleep in the truck and trailer till morning. When we got up, we unloaded our stuff, had some food, shot our bows and headed to the woods. The first night I saw several bears. About dark 9pm. I had this one come in barking at me, I was not sure what to think then she charged me not once but twice. I didn’t get out of my tree till about 11pm. When we got back to camp I asked the camp man Louie what to do? He proceeded to tell me that if it happens once it is ok and if it happens twice, well don’t let it happen a third time. So Monday we went back out, I had my brother help me carry the bait in when I got up in my stand the same bear was walking around out in front of me about 18 yards looking at me. So I got to thinking what are you going to do, then about that time she charged me again. She walked back out to the bait turned and came walking back in, she kept looking at me with every step. When she got to the base of my tree I thought well, this is far enough, so I drew my bow and placed the pin between her shoulder blades and squeezed the trigger, smack! The arrow hit its mark. The bear growled and hit the ground. Let out 7 death moans and that was it. I got in my stand at 4:30 and was done at 4:35pm. It was about 150 pound female!

Our party killed out by about the 4th day and we headed home. I wanted to say; Thanks to all you good people out there that helped let me enjoy this awesome experience! I had an awesome time and I can’t thank you enough! Here are some pictures of some animals.

Thanks Again, and Good Hunting!!!!!

Corey John Creason
