Someone asked how the 270wsm was better than the 338 or 300wm or some other bigger guns.....It is better because it does it more efficiently with a short action and less powder.
Actually I asked just how the 270wsm supposedly outperforms all those other cartridges in response to your statement below.
The .270 WSM consistently out performs just about every caliber there is besides the .375H"
The fact is that it does not out perform all of those other cartridges as far as trajectory or as far as energy is concerned.Various 300 mags and 338 mags privide much more energy than the 270wsm.Cartridges such as the 7mmstw and several ultramag and weatherby mags provide a flatter trajectory than the 270wsm as well as providing more energy.Cartridges such as the 7mm-08 are just as efficient,but provide less recoil.
Yes the 270wsm is a decent elk cartridge,but it certainly doesn't "outperform just about every other cartridge" according to many peoples standards.By the way,the 270wsm is not a caliber,rather it is a cartridge.
